Set within a sheltered cove on the Moray Firth coast, Covesea Links is one of Scotland’s most distinctive golf courses.
Its fairways sit between the surrounding coastline, sandy shoreline and the landmark Covesea Lighthouse. It is a compact landscape, but one that provides an extraordinary range of photographic opportunities as the light, tides and weather move across the course.
The Covesea Collection brings together a selection of photographs capturing this relationship between golf and the wider coastal landscape.
Covesea Links has a character entirely its own.
The course follows the natural shape of the cove, with views extending towards the lighthouse and across the Moray Firth. The old ruin beside the shoreline adds another recognisable feature, while the exposed coastal position means the atmosphere can change considerably within a short space of time.
Sunrise can bring warm light across the greens and fairways, while darker skies and stronger winds reveal a more dramatic side of the course. Both are part of the experience of playing and photographing golf on the Moray coast.
Rather than concentrating only on traditional course views, the collection includes wider landscapes, elevated perspectives and smaller details that help communicate the complete character of Covesea.
The collection has been brought together ahead of the Covesea Links Open on Sunday 27 September 2026.
I will be at the course photographing the event as golfers take on this distinctive coastal layout. It will also provide another opportunity to document the people, atmosphere and landscape that make the Open an important date in the Covesea calendar.
The photographs available in the collection were created during previous visits to the course and show Covesea in different light, weather and conditions.
One photograph presents an elevated view across the fifth hole and surrounding coastline towards Covesea Lighthouse, showing how naturally the golf course sits within its coastal setting.
Another was captured during sunrise and looks across the fourth green and fifth hole towards the old ruin beside the shoreline. The early light brings definition to the course while retaining the quiet atmosphere of the cove.
A view from the first hole looks back across the links and shows the course nestled into the surrounding landscape. It offers a different perspective on the scale and shape of Covesea and its relationship with the coastline.
The fifth green also features prominently within the collection. Its flag, green and coastal backdrop create one of the course’s most recognisable views, with the lighthouse visible beyond.
The collection is completed by a closer study of the Covesea Links flag moving in the coastal wind beneath a moody Scottish sky. Rather than showing the entire course, the photograph concentrates on movement, changing weather and one of the smaller details that give a golf course its identity.
The Covesea Collection forms part of a growing selection of AKH Golf prints documenting courses and golfing landscapes across Scotland.
These photographs are intended to represent more than individual holes. They record the landscape, weather and distinctive details that golfers associate with particular courses and destinations.
For golfers who have played Covesea, the collection offers a reminder of a course that provides an experience very different from larger resort or championship venues. For those with a connection to Lossiemouth and the Moray coast, the images also celebrate a familiar and distinctive part of the local landscape.
Every photograph in the Covesea Collection is available as an unframed print in A4, A3 and A2 sizes.
The photographs are printed and supplied without a mount or frame. Each print is produced to order, carefully rolled and delivered in a protective postal tube.
Further photographs from Covesea Links and golf courses throughout Scotland will continue to be added to the AKH Golf shop.
