The Covesea Links Open returned on Sunday 27 September 2026, bringing more than 100 entries to the distinctive nine-hole course on the Moray coast.
Supported by principal sponsor HLINC Golf, the event combined competitive nine-hole stroke play with the welcoming and informal atmosphere that has helped Covesea develop such a strong following. From the first shots of the day through to the final golfers finishing in the evening light, it was a memorable day both on and off the course.
AKH Golf was commissioned by HLINC Golf to attend and photograph the event, capturing the competition, sponsor presence and wider atmosphere surrounding one of Covesea’s biggest days of the year.
Course photography remains the foundation of a club’s image library, but it should show more than one familiar view captured during perfect summer weather.
More than 100 golfers entered the 2026 Open, filling the links with competitors from Moray and clubs further afield.
Covesea may be a compact nine-hole course, but its coastal setting, natural contours, gorse, bunkering and changing conditions provide a distinctive challenge. During an Open, every part of the course comes into play, with players needing to balance accuracy and good decision-making with the occasional opportunity to attack.
The weather added another element to the day. Periods of rain brought typically changeable conditions before the clouds began to clear and the last of the evening sunlight reached the links. It provided a memorable setting for the final groups completing their rounds.
The Open also reflected the work that goes into Covesea Links throughout the year.
The course was built by owner Andy, who continues to maintain and develop it alongside his son, known as Wee Andy. Their work was evident in the condition and presentation of the links, despite the demands of accommodating more than 100 entries across the day.
Angela, Andy’s wife, runs the shop and provides the friendly welcome familiar to regular visitors. Together, the family has created a golf course with its own identity and a relaxed atmosphere that carries through into events such as the Open.
The new on-site catering added to the experience away from the golf, giving players and visitors somewhere to gather before and after their rounds. The Covesea burger was a particular post-round highlight and is well worth trying during a future visit.
HLINC Golf attended as the principal sponsor of the event, supporting the Open and supplying prizes for the leading competitors.
The partnership brought together a golf waterproof clothing brand and one of Moray’s most distinctive independent courses. HLINC branding appeared throughout the event, while the company’s support helped Covesea deliver an increasingly well-attended fixture.
AKH Golf also supplied a selection of photographic prints featuring the course, which were presented to some of the winners alongside the prizes provided by HLINC Golf.
Documenting the event created a permanent visual record of the competition while providing Covesea and HLINC with photography that can continue to support future promotion.

The success of the Open went beyond the scores.
The combination of competitive golf, sponsor support, on-site catering and the work of the Covesea team created a day that felt welcoming to players and visitors alike. Events such as this demonstrate how much can be achieved through the commitment of a small team, supportive partners and an enthusiastic golfing community.
It was a privilege for AKH Golf to work with HLINC Golf and the team at Covesea Links, documenting an event that continues to grow from year to year.
The next Covesea Links Open will take place on Sunday 26 September 2027.
Following more than 100 entries in 2026, interest is likely to be high again. Golfers interested in taking part should follow Covesea Links and HLINC Golf for future entry information and event announcements.
